Easter Bank Holiday changes to bin collection days

Revised collection days will occur one day later than normal due to the Easter Bank Holiday. Revised service begins on Friday 18 April. Normal service resumes on Monday 28 April.

Easter is a time of rebirth and new beginnings. Recycling your waste gives it new life and, even better, most of it can be recycled in your kerbside collection. Here's a breakdown:

  • Foil from Easter eggs - scrunch all your foil together in a ball to make it easier to recycle

  • Wrapping paper and cards - these can be recycled as long as there is no glitter and they are made from paper

  • Easter egg boxes - please crush the card to save space. Plastic inserts can be put into the recycling too

  • If you have a garden waste collection, you can use it to dispose of cut flowers after they wilt. Alternatively, you can compost them if you have a bin or heap

  • Food! Unbelievably, as a nation we waste 8 million Easter eggs every year. Remember to put all your food waste into your weekly food bin for collection. If you don't have a food bin yet, please email recycling@braintree.gov.uk and we will deliver one to your door.
