Essex County Council can confirm the following changes to services in light of the Coronation of HM King Charles III and the national Bank Holiday on Monday 8 May.
Essex Country Parks will remain open as usual, although there could be changes to the café opening times on the Bank Holiday Monday. All Essex County Council recycling centres will be closed between 9am-2pm on Saturday 6 May 2023 to honour the Coronation of King Charles III. The sites will reopen from 2pm-5pm. Any existing bookings between 9am-2pm on this date will be honoured if residents would like to visit after 2pm on the same date. The booking calendars have been updated to reflect this one-off service closure. Recycling centres will be operating as usual on the Bank Holiday on Monday 8 May 2023. All libraries across Essex will be closed on Monday 8 May but remain open on Saturday 6 May.
Schools and colleges will be closed on Monday 8 May. Some childcare settings may make their own individual arrangements to remain open for some children. This is a decision for the individual setting.
ACL centres will be shut on Monday 8 May.
Essex County Council’s contact centre will be closed on Monday 8 May. Urgent social care calls will be diverted to the Emergency Duty Service.
Wedding ceremonies at approved venues and community venues will go ahead as planned. Some couples have chosen to rearrange.
Essex Registration Service will be closed on Bank Holiday Monday and scheduled appointments will be rearranged. Some offices will be open on Saturday 6 May for registrations.
No inquests are listed for Monday 8 May.
All services will be open and operating as normal from Tuesday 9 May.
