Local elections 2023

It is now 3 weeks to go until the local elections on Thursday 4 May 2023!

The list of nominated candidates for both the Braintree district and parish elections have now been published and can be viewed on our website.

Key deadlines coming up:

• Register to vote – deadline is 12 midnight on Monday 17 April 2023. Registering to vote is easy and only takes 5 minutes. Residents can register online here: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

• Postal vote – deadline is 5pm on Tuesday 18 April 2023. Residents can only apply for a postal vote if they are registered to vote. Details on how residents can apply for a postal vote can be found on our website: https://www.braintree.gov.uk/voting-elections/postal-proxy-votes

• Proxy vote – deadline is 5pm on Tuesday 25 April 2023. Residents can only apply for a proxy vote if they are registered to vote. Details on how residents can apply for a proxy vote can be found on our website: https://www.braintree.gov.uk/voting-elections/postal-proxy-votes/2

Voter Authority Certificates - deadline is 5pm on Tuesday 25 April 2023. This is for people who do not have any of the accepted forms of photo ID and wish to vote at a polling station in the elections. Residents can apply via the GOV website: https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate
