plans are in place to carry out trial hole investigations at Stoke by Clare Bridge, located on Ashen Lane with the support of a full road closure. The purpose of these works is to identify utility services located in the vicinity of the bridge.
The road closure will temporarily affect Ashen Lane from its junction with Ashen Hill for approximately 15 metres in a north-westerly direction and will be carried out from 19 February to 23 February 2024. To minimise local inconvenience these works have been planned to coincide with the school holiday period when traffic flows are traditionally lighter.
During this time, the road will be fully closed to all vehicles with an alternative route available via Lower Stoke Road, Ashen Hill, Ridgewell Road, Ashen Road, The Causeway, Four Ash Hill, Baythorne End, Mill Road, Chapel Street, The Street, Ashen Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will remain unaffected.
Letters have been sent to residents/businesses in the immediate vicinity of the bridge (example attached), with information already shared on One.network.
Please be aware that dates may be subject to change if weather conditions are unsuitable or if unexpected issues arise, however the latest information will be shared on site signage.
