Children’s Play Area Camping Close Steeple Bumpstead

2022 Annual ROSPA inspection and report.

We have had our annual inspection and there are several things that need work now or in the future. We are pleased to report that there were no critical / immediate action items and therefore the PC's open spaces working group will devise a plan of action to make the changes we can and/ or plan for the future works.

30/09/2022 IMPORTANT NOTICE

It has been reported that there is some damage at the play area and a potential risk of injury to little fingers. The piece of equipment has been taped off, but the play area remains open. Please take care.

Works on the Camping Close - Completed 25/5/21
The Parish Council were grateful to receive funds from the Communities Initiative Fund (CIF) towards the purchase of some of the new equipment.  The Completed play area was officially opened on 25th May 2021 by Cllr John Gili-Ross

The Play Area on the Camping Close was in need of some expensive repair work and the Parish Council really wanted to replace some of the rotten equipment and inject a bit of life again.

Cllr Girvan and Cllr Mackenzie worked hard to secure a small grant of £2500 towards the extensive costs and this made it possible for the PC to go ahead and order some new equipment.

Thank you to those involved in making it happen and to those who gave their views and opinions and of course to the lovely children from the pre-school who came to the official opening and were the first to test it all out.

The Play Area on the Camping Close has been a major part of the village for several decades and is extremely popular with children of all ages, and it is great to see its popularity during the Spring and Summer Months, but when weather permits even in winter it can be a very busy area.

The Play Area comprises two sections with one section for the older children and the enclosed section (fenced off) for the younger ones.

The Play Area is constantly inspected for safety reasons and each year ROSPA (The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) carry out an independent safety inspection and the Parish Council use the report for any repairs and work that this thorough inspection highlights.

The Parish Council are constantly looking at improving the Play Area and when funds permit improvements are made.

The Parish Council also welcome input from our residents as to how we can improve the Play Area and we invite you to contact Councillor Ian Mackenzie  cllrianmacksteeplebumpsteadpc@gmail.com for your thoughts and ideas.

We hope that all children from Steeple Bumpstead and visitors from further afield continue to enjoy this wonderful asset of our village.
